Supervision of Students

Chaperones are responsible for the supervision, conduct, and well-being of all students and participants in their group throughout the duration of the visit.

While Southern staff and student tour guides will lead the tour and provide information about the university, they are not responsible for supervising individual students or managing student behavior. We ask that chaperones remain attentive and actively engaged with their group.

Attendance and Group Management

• Ensure all participants remain with the group throughout the visit.
• Conduct headcounts as needed before, during, and after the tour.
• Assist Southern staff in maintaining a respectful and orderly environment.
• Address any behavioral concerns involving members of your group promptly.

Health, Safety, and Emergencies

Each visiting school or organization is responsible for following its own policies and protocols regarding student health, injuries, medications, emergencies, and incident reporting.

Chaperones should:

• Carry any required emergency contact information and medical documentation for participants.
• Administer or oversee medications in accordance with their organization's policies.
• Respond to student health concerns or injuries following their school's established procedures.
• Notify Southern staff immediately if a medical or safety concern arises during the visit.

In the event of an emergency, Southern staff will assist in coordinating an appropriate response and connecting visitors with campus resources.

Accessibility and Accommodations

If participants require accommodations to participate in the tour experience, please notify Southern Connecticut State University in advance so that reasonable arrangements can be made whenever possible.

Respect for Campus Community

Visitors are expected to:

• Follow all university policies and instructions provided by tour staff.
• Respect university property, facilities, and members of the campus community.
• Refrain from disruptive, unsafe, or inappropriate behavior.

Please note: Southern Connecticut State University reserves the right to modify or conclude a visit if participant behavior compromises the safety or experience of others.
